What Treasure Mapping Can Do For You

In 1981 I attended a class by Mary Katherine MacDougall on Treasure Mapping. During the class we each constructed a Treasure Map for the thing or event we were desiring to manifest in our lives. It was fun and at the same time it gave us the opportunity to make decisions as to what we truly wanted to appear. It gave us insight into the realm of conscious manifestation and what it could present in our lives.

Constructing a Treasure Map

A treasure map is actually a prayer in pictures.  It is a blueprint of the type of energy you want to create in your life.  It helps provide direction and, with daily meditation, helps you to stay focused on the destination of your choice.  You will learn that it is not necessary to continue to limit your imagination because the Creative Source of abundance has no limits.  The only limitation we experience is that which we place upon ourselves.

You can Treasure Map for many reasons...financial needs, health problems, goal setting, spiritual development, requesting enlightenment, an automobile, a new job, a residential move, assistance for family members or friends (always when making up a Map for others, permission should be asked...it can be requested directly or through meditation), assistance in releasing old thought processes...individuals...events.  You can see you are not limited in what you can map for.

We must put aside any thought that it is a waste of time and energy to paste together some pictures we have cut out of a magazine.  This project can turn into an undertaking in which we can obtain the assistance of our Angels, Guides and Teachers, Universal Wisdom and God.  The more creative we become with the map the easier it will be to visualize the outcome we want.

The treasure map can be made in any form that appeals to you.  It can be made in any shape or size, or you can put it in a scrapbook that you can tote with you.  If you have a number of Maps you are working on, a scrapbook is perfect. A separate page for each specific desire or goal.  If you are using a notebook as your scrapbook, it is really convenient if you can find one that has several separate sections with a pocket preceding each section.  You can keep notes in the pockets.   The map can be simple or elaborate.  It will become a focus for concentration on desired goals.

Begin your map project with a large piece of poster board or your scrapbook.  Color plays a role in mapping.  If you are mapping for financial security I would suggest using green or gold.  The color best used where family is involved would be pink.  If you are asking what your purpose is in this realm, blue would be appropriate.  If you are seeking higher spiritual development use an amethyst or purple color.  White can, of course, be used for any map.  Colored pencils or crayons can be used to write your affirmations and/or requests on the map in lieu of colored poster board.  Try to find colored pictures that represent your desires as the senses seem to react faster when color is used.

In the center of your paper, place a picture of whatever or whoever represents a form of security and or safety to  you.  It can be a picture of Jesus, a cross, an ascended master (I often use a picture of the ascended master Kuthumi), whatever or whomever you consider to be either the source of your good or whose philosophy you are most in tune with at the time.  Most times I have included, across the top of my map, a reminder that The Lord Is My Shepherd.  I also include thanks for the blessings I am receiving.  My center picture varies according to the type of map I am constructing but there is always the notation, somewhere on the map, where I invoke the protection and guidance of a divine authority.

When I do a map for money, I cut out pictures of money, of banks, of checkbooks (I paste dated checks made out to me in whatever amount I am asking for) of invoices marked paid in full, etc.  I also put statements of what the money is to be used for.  I give thanks that my needs are fulfilled.

Whatever the reason for your Map, you must give very specific and detailed information concerning your needs.  You should include amounts, colors, sizes, deadline dates...any information that describes in full the purpose of your map.  Let your imagination come into play and have a cheerful, expectant, happy attitude as you make your map.  It needs to be a fun exercise.

The one statement I always include on my Map is "This or something better that is for my highest good".

Affirmations for many forms of healing I have used

Catherine Ponder, author and Unity Minister, began writing her Prosperity books in the 60s.  In the early 70s when I was experiencing a very stressful period, a friend introduced me to two of her books - "The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity" and "The Dynamic Laws of Healing".  I read and reread both of them and began utilizing the affirmations she had given in each of them.

I discovered she lived in Palm Desert which was just down the mountain from where I was living.  I made an appointment and met with her.  What a delightful soul she is!  We spoke at length and she helped me understand some of what I was going through and why I was experiencing the situation I found myself in.

The first affirmation I adopted, and the one which I still use is as follows:  "I am a healthy, happy, prosperous child of God, I Am, I Am, I Am".  She also made me realize that along with repeating my affirmations, I must picture that which I am affirming for.  Picturing health is on the quickest avenues to health.  According to Latin roots to "image" means to conceive or to take into one's mind.  To imagine or "image" a condition, one must conceive it to achieve it.  Without the image there can be no condition.

I also learned never to claim an illness.  I could explain to someone what a doctor had reported about my health, but that explanation belonged to him and I never claimed it as mine.

Another person who greatly influenced me with my affirmations was the French Doctor Emile Coue who had such success with his patients using the power of imagination.  He set up the picture of healing in the patient's mind by repeating the phrase "Nobody ought to be sick".  His daily affirmation was "Every day in every way I am getting better and better".  That affirmation appeared on every Map I constructed whether it was for healing, prosperity, understanding, etc.  Another affirmation which always accompanies my affirmations is "This or something better that is for my highest good".

From studying Emile Coue's philosophy, I learned how very literal the sub-conscious
mind is.  It takes as fact anything you tell it...if you say "I have a heart problem" the sub-conscious mind accepts that as a fact and that message is then carried throughout the body and it tells the body it has a problem with the heart.  The body reacts accordingly.  It takes much longer for the sub-conscious mind to accept a reversal of that statement then it did to accept it in the first place.  And...I think it was Silva Mind Control that instructed people to immediately affirm "Cancel, Cancel, Cancel" whenever a negative statement was given in any form, to let the sub-conscious know it was to accept the statement as truth.

Thus, it is important to do your affirmations and as you are doing them to imagine or visualize the perfection of what you affirming for.

It appears sometimes that things have to get worse before they can get better.  The getting worse process is actually a part of the improvement process.  The appearance of failure is actually success being born into a situation.  That is called chemicalization.  This is another thing that Ponder discusses in her books.

Emmet Fox described chemicalization as follows:  "It seems as though everything begins to go wrong at once.  This may be disconcerting but it is really a good sign.  Suppose your whole world seems to rock on its foundation.  Hold on steadily, and let it rock, and when the rocking is over, the picture will have reassembled itself into something much nearer to your heart's desire".

Chemicalization means that things are coming out better than ever before.  When right thinking is at work the power of good can gain complete dominion of your world.

Some affirmations I have found effective and have inserted on my maps:

     >     "There is hidden justice at work in my life and it becomes visible now"

Charles Fillmore wrote:  "Many persons doubt that there is an infinite law of justice working in all things.  Let them now take heart and know that this law has not worked in their affairs previously because they have not called it into activity.  When we call our inner forces into action, the universal law begins its great work in us, and all the laws both great and small fall into line and work for us."

     >     "God is my supply and my unlimited abundance of everything now."

     >     "I give thanks for divine restoration in mind, body and affairs."

     >     "I now let go of worn out things, worn out conditions, and worn out
relationships."  (This one I used on my maps when seeking guidance to
improve my mental and emotional state of mind.)

What Treasure Mapping Can Do For You

A Treasure Map is actually a road map indicating the path to a desired destination.  It can help us make decisions as to what we actually would like to manifest in our life.  It is forming a partnership with the source of all life to bring into being the things you

We use a large piece of paper that can be placed on a door or wall so it is in our line of vision often during the day.  On it we will place pictures that represent our desires and/or goals and we will also write statements of faith that God, the Universe, our Guides and Teachers, will bring forth those desires and/or goals that are for our highest good.

The map can be any size.  It can be put on a wall, folded and placed in a book, put into a notebook.  It may not have pictures...it may consist of written desires only.  It will be a very personal project and you may find yourself modifying it a number of times before you actually accept it as the map of your choice.

I have made a number of different maps over the past 30 years:

     >     Map for personal development
     >     Map for physical items such as an auto, etc
     >     Map for improved health
     >     Map for new residence
     >     Map for the right job

The list can be endless...as endless as our needs, desires and goals.  But the bottom line has always been being thankful for blessings I have received, the blessings I experience and enjoy on a daily basis and the blessings that are forthcoming for my highest good.

Gather your old magazines to cut out pictures of things you would like or places you would like to live.  It would be good to have colored pencils to write with on your map...green for prosperity, purple for spiritual growth, blue to help with communication problems, etc.  I will give a few examples of statements I have used on my maps and types of pictures I have used and the outcome of the maps.
